{The Songs That We Sing}

Here are a few of my new pieces I've just added to the shop, not including the adorable foxy belt, sadly, I know! My grandmother bought this patent leather and gold fox belt about 40 years ago, and just recently, generously handed it down to me. Charlie and Sam in Brooklyn, alerted me that they will be carrying a pretty similar reproduction of this belt quite soon, so contact them if interested!

Now, back to my new pieces that I am quite excited about, The Scalloped Crop Top (also available in black) and The Silk Pocketed Tap Shorts. Available in XS, S, M and L.

Right now these pieces are at a special pre-spring price so have a looksie at my boutique for more info and also take advantage of 50% off my Razzle Dazzle Tap Shorts and Red Velvet Scalloped Shorts. Price already reduced on etsy : )

{Gil Antigüedades}

This 1930's vintage, sea creature-
esque, sequin hat is from my absolute favorite vintage boutique, Gil Antigüedades, in Buenos Aires, off of Plazza Dorrego. If you ever find yourself down south, do step into this unexpected wonderland, spanning 3 stories of meticulously preserved wearable treasures.

The owner,
María Inés Gil, who treated me like I was her precious first born, told me she had been collecting vintage clothes since she was 15. So have I, alas, I can safely say, my collection will forever be envious of hers. The prices were reasonable, and the atmosphere, a dream drenched in dusty rose, was all consuming, which is probably why I required 3 visits to the shop during my Argentinian adventure.

More treats from Gil
Antigüedades to be posted soon.

My brother generously gave me a Canon SLR for Christmas, which is something I've always had an intention to buy, alas, my undertaking was always easily interrupted by some very coveted pair of shoes, or something or other. I'm quite thrilled and feel very lucky to have one, and am putting it to good use and learning all about the tricky buttons.

Now, we'll talk about the dress...
Another glorious christmas gift! My grandmother surprised me with this piece we found at a really excellent vintage shop in Richmond, VA, called Bygones. It is a perfect reproduction of a 1920's vintage flapper dress. If it had been an actual beaded dress from the 20's, the piece would have cost thousands and the weight of the beads would have torn the mesh by now. I don't have the faintest idea as to where I'll wear this dream dress just yet. For now, it's used as a super fancy house dress for doing dishes. Appropriate, right?

Dalaga, which opened it's doors in 2006, is a charming boutique located on Franklin St. in Greenpoint, Brooklyn. The store boasts an array of affordable pieces, each with a surprising amount of detail and absolute fit and quality from local designers. What more could you ask for?
Stay tuned..

{GardenParty}

This cream and violet tap romper is the work of Eleonore of Garden Party. I've been admiring this girl's collection for quite some time and am quite excited to finally have a piece of my own! All of Garden Party's rompers, bloomers and blouses are designed and "homesewn" by miss Eleonore in San Diego. Click over to her etsy for further perusing. I expect lots of good things from this talented lady.

Ladies and Gents,
One of my very best friends has opened up her own etsy shop, selling hand knit neck and ear warmers and giant bow headbands, made of fine wool with the most appetizing color palette.
She's cute isn't she?

{Hitch a Ride}

I so seldom walk into Dalaga in Greenpoint and come out empty handed. The other night I had a few moments to spare before meeting friends, (and really, I wanted to escape the arctic weather, if only for a mere moment) and managed to find these Hitch a Ride Booties, purchase them at a pleasing price and head right back into the winter night again. I have not taken them off since..(except to tie them to a tree).

Visit Dalaga's site for frequent store updates and read an interview I did with owner Michelle here.

{Telesca}

My sister was so lovely and bought me this stunning necklace for Christmas made by Meagan Camp of Telesca. I am thrilled to have recently shared a Trunk Show with Meagan at Charlie and Sam in Williamsburg. Telesca jewelry is made from reconstructed antique and vintage parts, so of course they are all one-of-a-kind and sustainable. My Ivy-Leaved Maple Necklace is made from several different vintage parts, including a 1960's gold-tone and rhinestone pin and vintage chain. Visit her etsy shop for more!

{AimeeBrodeur}

A few of my favorites from the lovely Aimee Broduer. I had the privilege of meeting this talented lady recently whilst she was visiting NYC. I hope to work with her when she heads back for a visit, though I'm thinking heading out west and hunting her down might do the trick.
